Soopasoul, also known as Danny Soopasoul Bennett, is a UK DJ and producer whose music is rooted in funk, soul, jazz and breaks. His work combines vintage funk influences with live instrumentation and modern production, and he is particularly associated with 7-inch edits and original funk productions.

Originally known as a producer in electronic music circles, Soopasoul changed direction towards a more organic sound, putting together a band to record with live musicians rather than relying on loops and plug-ins. A local horn section subsequently became an important part of the sound, helping shape his debut album, Twin Stix.

Released in 2007, Twin Stix established Soopasoul within the UK funk scene. The album features tracks including "Brand Nu", "Hot & Cold" featuring Dionne Charles, "Soopasoul Theme", "It's Just Begun", "Do Me Wrong" featuring Sitzka and "Hustlin'". A vinyl edition was subsequently released by Jalapeno Records, with a remastered version appearing in 2021.

Soopasoul has also developed an extensive catalogue of edits and 7-inch releases. His version of The Jimmy Castor Bunch's "It's Just Begun" appeared on his Soopastole label, with edits of both the 1970 single version and the 1972 album recording, including an instrumental version concentrating on the original breaks.

His original productions include "Pushin' Weight", "A Wild Mad Beat", "Swing Down", "If It Ain't Funky Back It Up" and "Brand Nu". His releases frequently emphasise live drums, bass, horns, guitar and percussion, reflecting his preference for musicianship and classic funk arrangements.

Soopasoul's music has appeared through labels including Jalapeno Records, Smoove Records and his own Soopastole imprint. His catalogue continues to centre on funk, soul and breaks, with a particular focus on vinyl releases aimed at DJs and collectors.
