Dinked Records is a London-based independent record label launched in September 2015. The label describes its focus as quality soul, funk and Hip-Hop, both old and new, with its releases geared towards the dancefloor and 45 selectors. The label has built a catalogue primarily around 7-inch vinyl, with a strong emphasis on DJ-friendly records, reissues, edits and contemporary productions. Its early catalogue included releases by The King Rooster, including Back Chattin' / Fat Chance and a Record Store Day 2018 release limited to 500 copies. One of Dinked's best-known projects is the Friday's Funky 45 series, a long-running run of limited-edition 7-inch releases featuring DJs and producers working across funk, soul, Hip-Hop, breaks, disco and related styles. Artists involved in the series have included Daytoner, Featurecast, Red Astaire, Jim Sharp, Nick Bike, Double A, Krafty Kuts, Voodoocuts, DJ A.D.S., Mr Thing, Suckaside and DJ Marrrtin. The Friday's Funky 45 series has also provided a home for reworks of well-known Hip-Hop and soul recordings. DJ A.D.S.'s FF45-023, for example, paired remixes of Souls of Mischief's "'93 Til Infinity" and 50 Cent's "Hate It or Love It", while Daytoner's Vol. 12 combined a funk-band reinterpretation of AZ and Nas's "Life's A Bitch" with a rework connected to Chaka Khan's contribution to De La Soul. Beyond Friday's Funky 45, Dinked's catalogue includes a range of other 7-inch projects and releases. The label has issued music by artists including Soul Supreme, Mister Mushi, One Gram, The King Rooster and Foreigners, as well as releases associated with other independent labels and projects. The label has also been involved in the production and distribution of records from the wider modern 45 scene. Its catalogue includes releases such as Mister Mushi's Special Edit of Babe Ruth's "The Mexican", Lyn Collins / Maceo & The Macks – "Mama Feelgood / Soul Power 74", and numerous contemporary funk and Hip-Hop edits. Dinked Records has consequently become closely associated with the modern 7-inch DJ and collector culture, particularly around funk, soul and Hip-Hop. Its catalogue combines original contemporary productions, re-edits and selected reissues, with the physical 45 remaining central to the label's identity.
