Description:

Fight Da Faida is the debut single of Italian rapper Frankie HI-NRG MC (Francesco Di Gesù), released in February 1992. Emerging from Italy’s early hip-hop scene, the track delivers a powerful critique of the Mafia, political corruption, and major historical events such as the assassinations of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. Frankie uses both Italian and Sicilian dialects to intensify the message.

Musically, the track blends raw hip-hop beats with local Sicilian elements, including the marranzanu (Sicilian jaw harp) in the intro, deep bass, and militant vocal delivery. The lyrics confront societal issues directly, resonating with a generation seeking musical and cultural change.

Although it did not achieve international chart success, Fight Da Faida is recognized as a pioneering Italian rap recording that merged street-level commentary with hip-hop form. It was later featured on Frankie HI-NRG MC’s 1993 debut album Verba Manent.

Today, the single is regarded as a milestone in Italian rap history—a bold, socially conscious statement and a key influence on the growth of conscious rap in Italy.
