Description:
Released on Imperial Records in 1965, “Every Night, Every Day” finds bluesman Jimmy McCracklin blending his West Coast R&B roots with the emerging soul sound. The track rolls with a laid-back shuffle, crisp horns, and McCracklin’s trademark conversational vocal phrasing — part bluesman’s drawl, part soul storyteller.
Its polished yet earthy groove reflects the mid-’60s transition from juke-joint rhythm to radio-ready soul, while retaining the grit that defined McCracklin’s Oakland sound. A standout example of his adaptability, it’s equal parts club floor filler and barroom lament.
