Description: "The Cat" is one of Jimmy Smith's most popular and accessible albums. It features big band arrangements by Lalo Schifrin, giving it a sophisticated, cinematic, and slightly funky sound. The title track became famous through its use in film and TV. The album successfully blends Smith's soulful organ with a large brass section, creating an exciting and dynamic sound that appeals to both jazz purists and broader audiences
