Description:
Released on Epic Records in 1977, this track became Joe Tex’s biggest late-career hit, blending playful humor with irresistible funk grooves. The rhythm is built on a slick, mid-tempo bassline, crisp hi-hats, and wah-wah guitar riffs, while Tex delivers his cheeky vocal with signature swagger. The chorus, tongue-in-cheek and unforgettable, became a staple of disco-era funk playlists.
Though more comedic in tone than his earlier socially conscious material, it’s a masterclass in crafting a groove that sticks in your head. The track has occasionally been sampled in hip-hop for its bassline and infectious vocal shouts, making it a fun nod to Tex’s lasting influence.
