Description:
Released on Epic Records in 1969, “You Got Soul” showcases Johnny Nash’s smooth, expressive vocals set against a tight pop-soul arrangement. The track blends crisp horns, rhythmic guitar, and a warm bassline, delivering an upbeat yet soulful groove. Nash’s phrasing carries a subtle Caribbean lilt, hinting at the reggae influences he would famously explore in the 1970s.
The B-side, “Don’t Cry,” slows things down with a tender ballad approach, emphasizing Nash’s vocal warmth and melodic sensitivity. Together, these tracks highlight his versatility — equally capable of danceable soul grooves and heartfelt pop-soul storytelling
