Description:
“Everybody Dance Now” by Little Caesar & The Empire (issued on Ronnie Records) is a fiery uptempo soul shouter that exemplifies the mid-’60s East Coast club sound. Driven by punchy horns, call-and-response vocals, and a relentless backbeat, it captures the exuberance of early funk-influenced soul before the term “funk” was fully established in mainstream music.
Sampling / Influence:
While unrelated to C+C Music Factory’s later pop hit of the same title, this 1967 recording has been prized by Northern Soul DJs and funk collectors. Its break section has appeared in underground edits and mashups, and the single’s high-energy groove continues to surface in reissue compilations like Northern Soul Keep the Faith and Rare Funk Volume 2.
