Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie

One of the most recognisable reggae crossover hits of the early 80s, “Pass The Dutchie” brought the youthful energy of British-Jamaican group Musical Youth to an international audience. Released in 1982, the track reworks Mighty Diamonds’ roots-reggae classic “Pass the Kouchie,” adapting its lyrics for a younger audience while retaining the infectious bassline, bubbling keyboards and laid-back rhythm of the original. The result became a worldwide hit, introducing a generation to reggae and Jamaican musical culture. Its unmistakable groove and enduring pop-culture presence make this 7-inch an essential for reggae collectors, 80s music fans and DJs looking for a timeless feel-good classic.
