Description:
“Divinorum” is a standout release by Ocote Soul Sounds, a German ensemble deeply influenced by Afrobeat, funk, and 1970s soul-jazz. The track layers hypnotic horn arrangements, rolling percussion, and tightly interlocking rhythms, creating a driving groove that is both danceable and musically intricate. Vocal chants and call-and-response patterns pay homage to the African roots of Afrobeat while maintaining a contemporary funk sensibility.
Primarily celebrated as a modern Afrobeat masterpiece, “Divinorum” has become a club favorite among Afrobeat DJs and appears in many live sets and DJ mixes worldwide, particularly in Europe. Its rich rhythmic layering and horn motifs have inspired contemporary producers in funk, soul, and Afrobeat fusion projects, contributing to the global revival of Afrocentric grooves.
