Description:
Raw Soul’s 7” captures the essence of early ’70s funk with instrumental sophistication. “Stormy Weather” reinterprets the classic torch standard with tight funk rhythms, punchy horns, and organ lines, turning a ballad into a danceable groove. “Tyrone’s Brake Down” is an original funk instrumental, driven by syncopated basslines, percussive guitar, and dynamic horn arrangements, making it a natural candidate for DJs and breakbeat enthusiasts.
“Stormy Weather” has appeared in rare groove compilations, appreciated for its innovative reworking of a jazz-soul standard into a funk context. Together, they exemplify the early ’70s trend of instrumental funk as both dancefloor music and a source for sampling in emerging Hip-Hop culture.
