Detailed Description Containing Key Facts: Repercussions was an American musical collective, often associated with the burgeoning acid jazz and neo-soul scenes of the 1990s. Comprising members like Jenny Douglas-Foote (vocals) and co-producers Gordon Clay and Mike Mangini (not the drummer, but the producer), they were known for their sophisticated blend of jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop influences. "Promise" is a standout track from their critically acclaimed 1995 album Charmed Life. The song features Jenny Douglas-Foote's rich, soulful vocals over a lush, organic arrangement that includes live instrumentation (prominent bass, drums, horns) combined with modern production techniques. It embodies the smooth, laid-back yet funky grooves characteristic of the acid jazz movement, providing a more organic counterpoint to the electronic sounds prevalent at the time. "Promise" showcases the band's strong songwriting and their ability to craft intelligent, soulful music that appealed to both jazz and R&B enthusiasts
