Detailed Description Containing Key Facts: The Soul Survivors were an American blue-eyed soul band from New York, best known for their major hit "Expressway to Your Heart." This song was a significant milestone in the development of the "Philly Soul" sound, as it was one of the first major hits for the legendary songwriting and production team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff (later of Philadelphia International Records fame). "Expressway to Your Heart" is an upbeat, driving soul track featuring a distinctive, catchy organ riff, a powerful horn section, and gritty, impassioned vocals. Its energetic arrangement and narrative lyrics about a journey to love made it a dancefloor favorite and a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The B-side, "Hey Gip," also showcases their soulful sound, though it's less iconic. The success of this single helped establish Gamble & Huff's reputation and paved the way for the smooth, orchestral sound that would define Philly Soul in the 1970s
