A-Side – God Make Me Funky

One of The Headhunters’ signature grooves, “God Make Me Funky” is a heavyweight jazz-funk workout driven by tight drums, deep bass, percussion and the unmistakable vocal delivery of the band. This 7-inch features the rare four-minute Disco Mix, originally issued only as a promotional 45 in 1975. Its extended groove and punchy rhythm section make it particularly suited to DJs and break hunters.

B-Side – If You've Got It, You'll Get It

The flip is another standout from The Headhunters’ 1975 Survival of the Fittest album. A deep, rolling jazz-funk groove with muscular bass, crisp drums and plenty of space for the band to stretch out, it makes this more than simply a single-sided showcase for “God Make Me Funky.”

“God Make Me Funky” has become one of the most heavily sampled grooves in jazz-funk, with its drums, bass and vocal elements finding their way into hip-hop, R&B and dance music.
