Description:
William Bell’s version of “Born Under a Bad Sign” gives new depth to the blues classic co-written by Bell and Booker T. Jones (originally recorded by Albert King). Bell’s rendition replaces the raw guitar-driven tension with a smooth, horn-filled Southern soul arrangement, highlighting his expressive, gospel-rooted voice.
Though overshadowed by King’s definitive version, Bell’s take reveals his lyrical craftsmanship and versatility as both singer and songwriter. The B-side, “A Smile Can’t Hide (A Broken Heart),” is a lush, bittersweet soul ballad showcasing Bell’s emotional storytelling.
Each record is meticulously cleaned and stored separately in a brand new polyligned inner sleeve, paired with its cover in a protective outer sleeve.
