Description:
“Eloise (Hang On In There)” is one of William Bell’s most powerful vocal performances — a deep-soul masterpiece built on the Stax house band’s steady groove and soaring string arrangement. Bell delivers a message of resilience and love through pain, in line with the socially conscious soul emerging at the dawn of the ’70s.

Although not a major chart hit, “Eloise” became a favorite among Northern Soul and deep-soul collectors for its emotional depth and craftsmanship. The single’s enduring reputation is a testament to Bell’s status as one of Stax’s finest storytellers.
