Description:
Pickett’s rendition of “Hey Joe” predates Jimi Hendrix’s more famous version and is delivered with gritty soul intensity. The B-side, “Night Owl”, showcases his signature horn-driven funk grooves, tight rhythm section, and raw vocal power, blending blues storytelling with deep Southern soul.

“Night Owl” has been sampled by modern funk and hip-hop producers, while “Hey Joe” illustrates Pickett’s versatility in adapting blues and rock material into his soul-funk framework.
