CUTS is a London-based record label associated with the DJ and edit-maker GUEST. The label specialises in vinyl re-edits of funk, soul, rare groove, disco, boogie, jazz-funk and two-step material, with its releases aimed squarely at DJs, dancers and vinyl collectors. CUTS describes its approach as finding “precious gems” in a wall of vinyl, then cutting, polishing and presenting them for the dancefloor. The label's catalogue began in 2021 with GUEST EDITS Vol.1 (CUTSX001), a four-track 12-inch containing “Covert Action”, “Oakay Nite”, “Microchips” and “Fragments Of My Dreams”. A second 12-inch, GUEST EDITS Vol.2 (CUTSX002), followed with “Happens At Night”, “Maddalena”, “Sisters” and “Lost In The Universe”. CUTS subsequently developed its Mini Edits series around 7-inch singles. Mini Edits No.2 (CUTSX004), released in 2022, paired “Central Timing” and “Jozefina”, while later instalments included Mini Edits No.3, No.4, No.5 and No.6. These releases draw from a broad range of funk, soul, disco and rare-groove recordings, with the edits often adding introductions, extending breaks or otherwise restructuring the source material for mixing. The label has also released longer-format projects. A Place For Us EP (CUTSX005) appeared in 2022, followed by GUEST EDITS Vol.3 (CUTSX008) in 2023. The latter moved further into disco, cosmic, Balearic, Italo and Anatolian-influenced territory while retaining the label's sample-based, edit-focused approach. From 2024 onwards, the Mini Edits series continued with releases including Mini Edits No.5 (CUTSX009), No.6 (CUTSX010) and No.7 (CUTSX011). The seventh instalment paired “Passion Play” and “Native Son” and was released as a 7-inch in February 2026. The catalogue continued with Mini Edits No.8 (CUTSX012), released in May 2026 with “You Did It Good (Guest Edit)” and “Magic Dance (Guest Edit)”. Like the earlier Mini Edits releases, it was presented as a vinyl-only 7-inch. CUTS has therefore established a distinctive identity within contemporary 7-inch edit culture: digging through funk, soul, disco and rare-groove records, then reshaping overlooked or familiar recordings into concise, DJ-friendly edits. The label's catalogue is closely tied to GUEST, but its identity is ultimately defined by its emphasis on vinyl, digging and functional dancefloor edits.
